Barely three years after the late Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III joined his predecessors, Prince Abimbola Akeem Owoade has emerged as the next Alaafin of Oyo.

Prince Akeem Owoade emerged as the new Alaafin after the approval of the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde.

Prince Dotun Oyelade, the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, stated in a personally signed statement that Prince Abimbola Akeem Owoade has been recommended by the Oyomesi and approved by the Governor of Oyo State following extensive consultations and divinations.

Recall that it took more than two years to fill the Alaafin of Oyo’s vacant throne owing to a misunderstanding between the kingmakers and the Oyo State Government.
