Filmmaker Toyin Abraham is celebrating a major win at the box office as her newly released film Iyalode has grossed over N100 million within just four days of release.
The 42-year-old announced the milestone on Instagram on Tuesday, sharing a promotional poster that read: “No. 1 Film in cinemas. N103.7m in 4 days.”
In the caption, she expressed gratitude to her fans, writing: “Thank you everyone 🥹🙏🥹🥹 IYALODE still showing in all cinemas in Nigeria💪💪”
Iyalode, which premiered on June 4 and opened in cinemas nationwide on June 6, is a sweeping historical drama set in pre-colonial Yoruba society.
Directed by Adebayo Tijani and produced by Toyin Abraham alongside her husband Kolawole Ajeyemi, the film tells the story of a powerful woman who “doesn’t just wear a crown but builds a kingdom.”
Toyin plays the lead character—a trailblazing female leader whose journey is marked by power struggles, betrayal, and legacy building.
The story explores themes of cultural pride, resistance and the evolving role of women in leadership, all within a richly Yoruba cultural context.
The film also boasts an ensemble cast including Kehinde Bankole, Bukky Wright, Muyiwa Ademola, Wale Ojo, Ibrahim Chatta, Peju Ogunmola, Aisha Lawal and Kolawole Ajeyemi.
