Residents of Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, have expressed concern with the influx of commercial motorcycle riders into the state.
A resident of Ganaja area of the state, Mallam Sule Nda, noted that hundreds of motorcycle riders were being dropped in the area almost on daily basis.
He called on the security agencies to check the trend by profiling them to know their real mission.
“We are living in danger on daily basis. Trailers have been dropping these Okada riders in our area on daily basis. We are worried. Crime in our area have increased in our area in recent time. We want security agencies to come to our aid,” he said.
In Zango area of the state, residents have expressed the same concern. A woman identified as Mama Chidinma said they now live in fear.
“We have been experiencing serious crimes including kidnappings in the area of recent. A man, his wife and a son were kidnapped. We want government to check this trend. Most times they use motorcycles to commit crime. Look at the recent kidnap attempt in Kabba-Bunu. Police and the people of the community confirmed that over 40 motorcycles were used to invade the Government Secondary School in Iluke,” she said.
