Kano State Governor Alhaji Abba Yusuf has said his administration’s three years in office had been dedicated to delivering dividends of democracy through people-centred policies and programmes.
The governor stated this in his Democracy Day message, congratulating Kano residents and describing the celebration as a reminder of Nigerians’ commitment to democratic governance, freedom, justice and development.
In a statement issued by his spokesman, Sunusi Bature, Yusuf said the occasion provided an opportunity to reflect on Nigeria’s democratic journey and strengthen commitment to accountability, transparency and effective service delivery.
He said his administration had prioritised education, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture and social development, with the aim of improving the living conditions of the people.
Yusuf highlighted the declaration of a state of emergency in education, saying it had attracted investments in school infrastructure, recruitment of teachers, provision of teaching materials, payment of examination fees and sponsorship of students for higher education.
