Nollywood actress Biola Adebayo has confirmed that she and her husband, Oluwaseyi Akinrinde, have gone their separate ways.

In a touching Instagram post on Tuesday, Biola said they have been separated since April 2024. She shared the news while wishing her ex-husband a happy birthday, making it the first time she publicly spoke about the end of their marriage.

She wrote,”Happy birthday to my ex-husband and my baby daddy. I pray that grace will abound unto you, I pray you find peace in all your ways. May God continue to light your path and bless you beyond your expectations, in Jesus’ name.”

She added, “Yes, you heard me right! My husband and I have been separated since April last year, but we have decided to maturely and peacefully co-parent our dear son, who means everything to us.”

Biola also opened up about how difficult the past year has been for her emotionally, even though she kept a strong face in public.

“While I go about making other people happy during the day, my pillow is drenched with my own tears almost every night for the past 14 months,” she wrote.

“But I gain strength from Christ, who loves me eternally and gave Himself for me. Let’s learn to be kind to people; you have no idea what others are going through until they say it. Say unto the righteous, all is well.”

She also told her fans, “To everyone that feels disappointed, I’m sincerely sorry. I wished it worked, but it’s better to stay alive to tell the story. Please keep us in your prayers.”

Her post drew many supportive comments from fans, friends, and fellow actors. Nollywood actress Regina Chukwu wrote, “Biola… it’s well.”

Others expressed sympathy and respect for her honesty, with many praising her courage and maturity.

Biola and Oluwaseyi got married in April 2021 after a brief courtship. In a 2023 interview, Biola had explained that they married less than six months after they started dating because they realised they had a lot in common.

In April 2023, they welcomed their son through a surrogate. Now, despite the end of their marriage, the two remain united in raising their child with love and care.
